Not Such Quiet Girls

An Opera North and Leeds Playhouse Co-Production

To commemorate the centenary of the 1918 Armistice, Opera North programmed a new piece portraying life during the First World World War. Not Such Quiet Girls tells the story of four women who risked their lives transporting wounded soldiers to hospitals as ambulance drivers. Away from the conventions and limitations of home, the young women discover that they can live a less circumscribed life, and away from societal limitations around gender and sexuality, a love affair develops between two of the young drivers.
